Book Review:
Undergrounders by David Skuy

The book Undergrounders, by David Skuy is a book about a twelve year old boy named Jonathon whose mom died from cancer and he was left on the streets by his mom's back stabbing boyfriend.  Luckily another homeless boy, named Lewis, saves Jonathon and brings him to the underground.  This is an abandoned mall that was unfinished. One cold day Jonathon gets into a hockey store and steals hockey gear, and from then on his life changes.

Book Review:
Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel

The great book Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel is an action packed book. It has the wonderful Dusk as the main character. In the book you will find out about the life of Dusk as he tries to become the next colony leader. It takes place in a far forest. Dusk and his family are in for a shocker. Read the book to find out what it is....

Students attend "We Day" at Roger's Arena

Today's We Day kicks off at Vancouver's Rogers Arena with 18,000 British Columbia students (including some Brighouse Elementary students) joined by 2,000 other guests, including teachers, in the largest We Day event in the country.  Vancouver is the largest of the five We Day events held across Canada, including Montreal, Toronto, Waterloo and Winnipeg.

The event, one of several being held across Canada, is hosted by Free the Children, an internationally recognized organization co-founded by brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger.

The big names at today's event include former Soviet Union president Mikhail Gorbachev, who is making his first visit to Vancouver in 20 years; actress and social activist Mia Farrow; NBA all-star Shaquille O'Neal; recording artists Hedley and Down With Webster, and a number of other personalities and performers.

Author Visit - Linda Bailey

We were very excited to meet Linda Bailey, the author of Stanley's Party and Stanley's Little Sister, and many other books.
