Students attend "We Day" at Roger's Arena

Today's We Day kicks off at Vancouver's Rogers Arena with 18,000 British Columbia students (including some Brighouse Elementary students) joined by 2,000 other guests, including teachers, in the largest We Day event in the country.  Vancouver is the largest of the five We Day events held across Canada, including Montreal, Toronto, Waterloo and Winnipeg.

The event, one of several being held across Canada, is hosted by Free the Children, an internationally recognized organization co-founded by brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger.

The big names at today's event include former Soviet Union president Mikhail Gorbachev, who is making his first visit to Vancouver in 20 years; actress and social activist Mia Farrow; NBA all-star Shaquille O'Neal; recording artists Hedley and Down With Webster, and a number of other personalities and performers.
